Doksy and Kokořínsko
Nature of Doksy
The local terrain and sandy subsoil are wonderful for the growth of pine trees and the overall dense forestation around the town. The forests here are crisscrossed with numerous trails that invite you to walk, run, and reach various hiking destinations. In the summer, you will find blueberries and cranberries in the woods, and in the autumn, mushroom pickers will find plenty to enjoy. The countless trails in the woods and on the roads will take you endlessly to where to go on your bike or in-line skates. Those who like to cycle will be delighted with the local cycling options.
Protected landscape area Kokořínsko
The Macha Region is a south-western area of the Liberec Region with an overlap into the Central Bohemian Region, especially around Doksy and Macha Lake, including Kokořínsko. The protected landscape area covers an area of approximately 410 km². It is one of the most beautiful areas of Mělník, Českolipsko, Mladá Boleslav and the whole of Bohemia. The local landscape has a canyon-like character, in the northern part it turns into the Doksy Upland, it is characterised by sandstone rocks, many of which form various shapes – rock overhangs, small caves, niches and ledges.
